MDC to host Hunter Education sessions Sept. 5 and Oct. 3 at Andy Dalton Shooting Range

Body

ASH GROVE, Mo. – Missourians 11 and older are invited to attend one of two upcoming hunter education classes at Andy Dalton Shooting Range and Education Center.

The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) will host two separate classes. Participants need only register for one class. The classes are as follows:

These skill sessions will cover part two of the Missouri Hunter Education requirements. To enter the session, students must complete the knowledge portion and provide proof of completion by presenting either a certificate or a completed hunter education student manual the day of the event.

All students must provide proof of identification and age. The final exam will be administered at the end of the skills session.

Missouri’s hunter education course is required for any hunter using firearms born on or after Jan. 1, 1967. Hunter education has reduced hunting accidents and deaths by more than 70 percent since it became mandatory in 1987. For this reason, MDC recommends all hunters become hunter-education certified.

MDC’s Hunter Education Program provides a foundation in hunting safety and ethics. It instills responsibility, improves skills and knowledge, and encourages interaction between beginners and veteran hunters.
